William Edward Vanhook

Mr. William Edward Vanhook 85, of 208 North St. Mebane, North Carolina passed peacefully at his residence on April 17, 2024.  He was born in Alamance County, NC on February 2, 1939, to the late Mr. Thomas Vanhook and Mrs. Haur Torain Vanhook.  He was educated in the Alamance County School System and worked in textile manufacturing, and he owned and operated Vanhook Janitorial Services.  Mr. Vanhook was a faithful and dedicated member of Johnson's Chapel AME Church in Mebane, NC where he served as Chairman of the Trustee Board and in any other capacities needed.  Mr. Vanhook was a true hearted UNC Football and Basketball fan, "Go Heels".

As a young man, he met and married the love of his life, Betty Jean Foust and until her death they shared many wonderful years together.

His life and legacy will be forever cherished by his children, Bruce Vanhook, Sharon Foust and Vickey V. Manuel (Orlander); eight grandchildren, Melvin, Daniell, Daniel, Brittany, Maurice, Jalen, Ashley and DeAndre; 13 great grandchildren; two brothers, Josephus Vanhook (Patricia), and Winfred Vanhook; two sisters, Dorothy Torain and Gracie Willett along with a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and dear friends.

William was preceded in death by his parents, Thomas and Haur Vanhook, his wife, Betty Vanhook, one daughter, Julia Vanhook and 4 sisters, Marylean Carr, Geraldean Vanhook, Muzella Lambert and Laverne Winstead.
