Mr. Wilbert Lindsay Holmes, Jr. of 2140 Pleasant Woods Ct. Burlington peacefully transitioned from labor to reward on March 10, 2024, loved by his family and receiving care by the staff of the AuthoraCare Hospice Home of Alamance-Caswell. Wilbert was the only child of Mr. Wilbert Lindsay Holmes Sr. and Mrs. Lillian Rollins Holmes born in Alamance County on March 14, 1961. Wilbert was a 1979 graduate of Hugh M. Cummings High School and a 1983 graduate of the University of North Carolina in Chapel Hill, NC with a degree in Industrial Relations.
Wilbert was employed by Luxfer Gas Cylinders in Graham, NC for thirty years and a member of Ebenezer United Church of Christ, Burlington, NC. Earlier in life Wilbert answered the calling of the Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity and became a member of the oldest intercollegiate historical African American Fraternity. Being a history buff, he enjoyed reading and anything science. Loving good food, he would often volunteer to be his wife’s taste tester.
The life and legacy of Mr. Wilbert Lindsay Holmes, Jr. will be forever loved and cherished by his beautiful wife, Constance “Connie” Core Holmes, son, Quinston Eligah Holmes, and daughter, Kimberly Renee Fuller and one grandchild, Ms. Kennedy Fuller; father-in-law, James E. Core, Jr.; brothers-in-law, Stephen Core and Rayvon Core, sister-in-law, Evelyn Core Burnett (James) along with a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and dear friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Wilbert L. Holmes, Sr., and Lillian R. Holmes along with his mother-in-law, Gladys H. Core.
